Yarn is a community storytelling application designed to allow users to create and share stories online, using material from the web and from archive partners such as the BBC, National Media Museum and the Science Museum. Designed with communities across the UK in the Pararchive project led by the University of Leeds, Yarn provides a set of storytelling features to get you started, which will help you structure your stories quickly, connect them with other stories (written by yourself or other Yarn storytellers), as well as add interesting details to provide depth and context.
Historypin is an online system that allows you and others to add images, videos and text to Google maps. These can be from anytime and can be placed in such a way to develop stories and create located-archives that relate to a particular point in history. You can ‘pin’ your history and share it with others using the system. The site provides lots of guidance and you can see examples of how others have created stories in your area.
